The November 2025 general election is quickly approaching with races that will affect our community. However, there is a growing trend by a handful of Cumberland County Republicans to either overtly support Democrat candidates, ignoring those that do, or attempting to silence fellow Republicans who disagree with them.
The most egregious example is by our Cumberland County Republican Committee (CCRC) Chair Lou Capozzi allowing current Cumberland County Committee Persons (CP) to overtly support Democratic Candidates. The most flagrant example is by (CP) Dr. Michael Verber actively promoting Democratic candidates for School Director positions on the Cumberland Valley School District (CVSD) Board. He frequently hosts Democrat candidate events and posts non-stop on social media via his CV Cures political website (Dr. Verber founded and runs the CV Cures political organization). Even though I have personally heard Mr. Capozzi emphatically proclaim in front fellow Republicans that the CCRC will only support endorsed Republicans, he sits idle while current and former CPs overtly campaign for Democrats…. but why?
Two years ago, Mr. Capozzi purged Republican CPs from the CCRC for supporting non-endorsed Republicans during the general election. However, Mr. Capozzi does nothing to CPs who actively support Democrats. Even though Mr. Verber took a recent leave of absence as a CP (while he actively campaigns for Democrats), he should be immediately removed by Mr. Capozzi. Mr. Capozzi can immediately remove Dr. Verber since Mr. Capozzi appointed him (Dr. Verber was not elected). Could it be because Dr. Verber swoops in and donates cash to other candidates and even buys three $500 bricks to support Mr. Capozzi’s historic CCRC building in Carlisle? This is quite disappointing since Mr. Capozzi is the leader of the CCRC.
Then, there are other current CCRC CPs actively promoting Democrats for CVSD School Directors – (CP) Mr. Bud Shaffner, (CP) Ms. Jessica Silcox (sister in-law to CCRC CP and PA State Committee Member Nate Silcox), and (CP) Rose Willis. Other Republicans actively supporting Democrats include (Fmr CP) Mike Gossert, CVSD Board President Greg Rausch and CVSD Asst Secretary Jevon Ford. Why is Mr. Capozzi silent? I have attached a recent flyer Dr. Verber posted on CV Cures website promoting a Republican Meet and Greet for Democratic CVSD School Director Mike O’Brien (a candidate who ran in the Democratic Primary two years ago to unseat U.S. Rep. Scott Perry (R)). The flyer lists many of the above Republicans overtly supporting a Democrat.
Finally, there are Republics like (CP and PA State Committee Member) CVSD Vice President Michelle Nestor, who in July while still serving as Chairperson of Hampden Township Republican Association (HTRA) unsuccessfully attempted to prevent five fellow Republicans (who she disagreed with) from joining the HTRA to promote Republican candidates. Fortunately, Mrs. Nestor’s actions of lying to HTRA members by saying the Executive Committee had voted not to recommend these five individuals from joining, was exposed by fellow HTRA Executive Board members and several HTRA members. This resulted in Mrs. Nestor resigning in disgrace from her HTRA Chair position a week later.
Cumberland County Republicans must be united to ensure Republican values are achieved by electing “true” Republicans and not Democrats. Any Republican who actively promotes Democrats should be immediately removed from any Republican organization position and barred from future Republican organizations. Everyone has the freedom of choice, however, if you want to support Democrats, become either a Democrat or Independent. This growing “cancerous” condition among Cumberland County Republicans must be addressed immediately and acted upon. If Mr. Capozzi is unable or unwilling to exercise decisive leadership, then he must be replaced. I call upon my fellow Cumberland County Republicans to share your voices and correct this unfortunate situation by demanding accountability.

Dr Verber asks why are people against him buying his way onto the Republican committee and then pushing democrats. The simple answer is that democrats have proven to be violent when they don’t agree with you. Democrats want men in girls bathrooms, democrats hate America and democrats want to tax us all to death. Democrats cheer after a conservative gets assassinated then they demand that we stop calling them out on their hypocrisy and violence. No thank you Dr Verber. This is how we end up with RINOs at the highest levels. They start local and keep moving up. We need the Republican party to truly be Republicans with true conservative views. We can most definitely compromise with Democrats to come to mutually agreeable outcomes but when you have Democrats pretending to be Republicans you don’t end up with true compromises. Really bothered by this letter. I was even more bothered when I attended the Lincoln dinner hosted by Michelle Nestor and saw that Democrat Mike O’Brien was advertising his campaign at a Republican Women’s event she was hosting. Why did Michelle allow this? And I used support her when I thought she was serious about supporting Republicans. I’m confused, and don’t know who to trust.

I am convinced those who are standing up supporting Mike O’Brien were never “Republicans” to begin with. They may have been registered Republican because it was convenient to be known as a Republican as a business leader or because they wanted political power in a county that leans Republican. Meanwhile 9 elected, conservative Republican committee people were kicked out of the Republican Committee for supporting the voters’ pick, over and over and over again, against the Party’s hand-picked crony, who has consistently sided with the Democrat Commissioner, and whose first major vote was to raise your property taxes.
The 9 were suspended for a year, three years ago. Capozzi is requiring a signed personal loyalty oath, promising never to tell voters the truth about him or the Party under his control.
Next Spring, when Committee People are on the ballot, find out who they are, and vote the RINOs (that’s how you spell it, Michelle!) OUT!

I see Mrs. Nestor’s public rants and outbursts along with her non-stop social media drinking pictures. Then, Me. Gossert being a puppet of Dr. Verber and playing lapdog to a Democratic candidate for CV School Board. Finally, Mr. Shaffner and his shenanigans and lawsuits, along with mussing money of his wife’s cheerleading organizations. When will people rise up and call these people out! This statement is false. People everywhere are talking about it! I’ve even heard it brought up at Townhall meetings from the general public. There are a lot of people that do not want to publicly say much because they are in fear of school faculty retaliating against their children. Not saying that it will happen but it probably could. Those folks that still have children within the school district. Just want a safe school with a great quality education without trans identity politics, or anything else demonic in our classrooms. We as concerned citizens aren’t asking for much.
How can we trust certain candidates to make wise decisions affecting our school district and the children within the school district that support men playing in women’s sports or transing children or anyone for that matter? if a grown adult has this ideology and can’t figure out biology of a human being and that men cannot become women and vice versa there is no way could they be trusted to make other decisions within our school district. If I were to ask a five-year-old child if he or she thinks they could become the opposite of sex, they would look at me like I was crazy.
